
Quetzaltenango is served by a system of
city buses and microbuses (small vans). A taxi from Minerva
Spanish School to the city center (Parque Central) costs
around U.S. $3. Microbuses, which pass by Minerva school
every few minutes, costs about fifteen cents.
The public
bus station is a short walking distance from
the school, as are the major commercial centers and traditional open-air markets. Public buses, also known as "Chicken
Buses", depart Minerva Bus station, and travel to
local area destinations.

From Guatemala City
Airport - Take a taxi to either

Both are first class buses and the price is around U.S.
$5.
It's 200 km from Guatemala City to Xela and the trip takes
about 4-5 hours traveling time. If you know what time you
will be arriving in Xela, please give us a call and we
will meet you at their bus station.

Many of the students who study at Minerva Spanish School
have little or no previous experience here in Guatemala.
Arriving in a foreign country with a limited ability
to communicate can be stressful to put it mildly.
