Born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in 1955. Initially a self-taught classical and Latin-American guitarist. Later perfected his technique in harmony, solfeige, Samba and Jazz with his teacher José Valdez in the National Conservatory of the US and México.

Fredy Peña performs music of: Isaac Albeniz, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Juan Sebastián Bach, Francisco Tárrega, Manuel M. Ponce, H. Villalobos, Antonio Lauro and others. Furthermore, Fredy Peña performs compositions and folk songs of Guatemalans and the indigenous Maya tradition.

Fredy Peña is the guitar instructor for Escuela Minerva and has received and studied with many students of varying nationalities. He offers a complete program for beginners, intermediates and advanced students of the guitar.

Hours of study are flexible, and the program of study varies according to the interests of the student. Classes are a modest $5.00 per hour.
